The Career Center
Our school counselors are busy conducting their junior interviews and once complete, students are encouraged to visit the Career Center to compile a list of schools that they might consider visiting over the summer. Our DISCOVER program allows students to narrow their lists of schools by majors, geographic location, enrollment, selectivity, cost, and even sports offered.
Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to stop in and take advantage of the DISCOVER program for career exploration. DISCOVER contains information on more than 550 careers, providing job descriptions, salary information, skill requirements and recommended high school courses. There is also information about military occupations.
Guidance General Information
Counseling and Guidance services provided at Wolcott High School are available for the purpose of serving the individual needs of each student. Experienced counselors are available for all students. Psychological and achievement tests, interest and aptitude tests, and diagnostic and prognostic tests may be given at different intervals in the school career of the student. The results of such tests, when carefully analyzed and interpreted in the light of the school record and the vocational aims of the student, supply valuable information determining the abilities, interests, and needs of the individual. A school psychologist and social worker are available.
Guidance counselors are available from 7:15AM to 2:30PM. If a parent/guardian should have questions and/or concerns regarding his/her child, he/she is encouraged to contact the Guidance Office at 203 879-8157. Parental conferences may be arranged by calling the Guidance Office for an appointment.
